Christmas @ Singapore

It was the day before Christmas and I don’t really feel like celebrating. One reason is because I’m not in the Philippines to celebrate it with Anne and my family. Another reason is, I was literally alone here in our house. My housemates already went to Philippines to celebrate the yuletide season there. Christmas is a holiday here in Singapore but aside from not having to go to work, there is really nothing special about this day here. Thanks to my fiancé Anne, she encourage me to have my Noche Buena even if I only have my self to celebrate it with. Thanks also to the computer technology, I have Anne as my dinner date.
The idea of cooking something for the noche Buena really excites me. I actually love cooking, I just need someone to teach me the proper way to do it. I really havent tried cooking at home in the Philippines but I certainly believe that its not too late for me to catch up. =)

Ok, to cut the story short, I decided to cook something for the Christmas eve. I asked Anne on the step by step procedure on how to make spaghetti since my fiancé is a certified pasta guru. I remember the day she cooked baked mac for me which we brought in our taal volcano adventure and as I tasted it, I told myself that she’s the one who will stand beside me on my wedding day. ;)

After getting the tips, I immediately went to the grocery to buy the ingredients. I found a ready made spaghetti sauce but I didn’t bought it because my cyber cooking lesson with Anne will be wasted if I will buy that one. And of course, I want to impress her and prove to her that I will not only be a good husband to her, but a good cook as well.. =)

So after giving everything I got in front of the stove, I have a wonderful noche Buena experience! I believe that Christmas is truly in our hearts of every Christians and we should not based it from other people or from situations around us. Happy or sad, Christmas will always be Christmas. We should celebrate the true meaning of this day, and that is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and that God truly loves each and every one of us!

Merry Christmas to everyone. Bon Appetit!

Bridal Shower 2

Yes! I had another bridal shower sponsored by JPHIL IT girls. I thought the party was for Ms. Ana who will take a maternity leave starting Monday. They reserved and decorated the Multi-purpose room at the 10F of our building. I was surprised when I saw the banner by the door with my name. Very well planned! When we arrived, packed lunch from Max's were already waiting for us. They also prepared games for the program.

First game was to guess the correct word out of the jumbled letters. Of course all words were related to weddings.

Second was the "Dress-A-Bride" game. I've already read the mechanics of this game before and I thought to myself that it would be difficult to do. Using a material as delicate as a tissue roll must give the players a tough time. But they proved me wrong! I salute these girls for being so creative! I was amazed at the tissue-gowns they did!

I'm supposed to choose one winner between them, I declared both teams winners!

Opening of gifts have always been a favorite activity of mine. :D

Photo-opps!

Kudos to all of you for a very memorable shower! I had so much fun especially with the games.

My Bridal Shower

Last night my friends from Fujitsu threw me a surprise bridal shower. They made it seem like we’re having a despedida for my friend Mitzi for she’s leaving for Singapore by the end of the week. At first, I was getting a little suspicious because my friends were acting a bit strange. First and fore most, I’m intrigued why would she throw a despedida party at her condo, for usually we just get together at a resto. She told me that she’s saving her moolah for an apartment in SG. But when I looked at the food she was preparing, it doesn’t seem she’s saving at all. But I let it go. Second, Leah, my MOH, was very eager to attend the party. She even suggested to just meet up at the venue when usually we would first meet then just go to any party together. Again, I let it go. I never found any signs from Shirley (Chord Sponsor). She’s acting very cool and natural the moment I picked her up from her home and all the way to Mitzi’s unit.

They rented the function room beside the pool area. This is a very interesting surprise. It’s not like when you open the door and find all your friends in the room kind of surprise. It’s having a despedida dinner and having your friend who just arrived hand you a bridal shower gift. Hahaha! That’s actually what happened. We were feasting over Café Breton’s crepes and KR’s chicken and some cocktails when Sheila and Beth arrived. The moment they arrived, Sheila started talking about bridal showers and immediately approached me to hand her gift! I was so surprised! I didn’t know what to say for she just revealed the surprise! Hehe..

So there, I already knew that there will be a bridal shower for me that night. So since the ice was broken, they started the program already. Maan, our emcee, was our host for the night. I thought that we will start off with a program for Mitzi. I even got a high chair for her. Needless that I know that the shower is about to start. They had me answer series of questions that JayR pre-answered. I am supposed to answer the same answer that he did. For every mistake I make, I need to drink vodka or strip! Of course I chose the former. I don’t have enough clothes on me to strip. And for every correct answer, I would open a gift!

Before we started the program, I already had a glass of Baileys and wine. So during the third or fifth question, I can’t think straight.

I argued that I’d still have to drive so they would change the consequence. I was surprised that they even prepared an over night clothes for me with the help of my brother. Very sneaky!!

At the end of the game, they read to me a letter sent by JayR. So sweet! There’s also a game of balloon blowing which Mitzi won. I wasn’t able to blow mine for I’m still tipsy over vodka. At the end of the night, they showed me a video which Shirley did. It was so touching! I really had a blast! Thank you girls for a wonderful and memorable night! I love you all! Mwah!
