Wedding Updatessssss!!!
This is truly an update that is long over due. I became twice as busy with the wedding preparations as November rapidly approached. Below is a summary of what I did for the past four weeks.
1. First Fitting
I had my fitting during the last week of October. Our coordinator Nina accompanied me. I fitted only the lining and it fit me just right. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel any weird emotion inside me. I just don’t know when I fit it the next time. My good friend Shirley(Chord Sponsor) saw my gown with lace and some bead works already when she went to Ms. Minette for her fitting. She said it was beautiful. I’m glad she liked it. I hope I would look good in it. I will not post pictures during my fitting to keep the suspense. I’m leaving you guys with a shot of the lace that will be used on my gown.
2. Divisoria Trip
Day one of November marked the day I started to feel the stress of handling the leg work of wedding preparations alone. Three weekends of November has passed and I (with my mother) didn’t miss one weekend that I didn’t scour the streets of Divisoria. The first time I went there, I bought my kissing bells and some items I will use in presenting our gifts to our principal sponsors. With Christmas peeking just around the corner, traffic is not a surprise, not to mention the difficulty of finding a parking space. The next trip was when we met my Ninong in Binondo for our invitation. Since Divisoria is just a block away, we walked our way to 168 Mall for a short shopping spree. Last weekend, I accompanied my MOH, Leah to buy some beads she needs for the necklace she is doing for me - I already saw the necklace and I love it! I’d probably miss Divisoria after our wedding. Hahaha!
3. Invitation
Since my Ninong will take care of the printing of our invites, we just bought paper materials from Recto. I know that finding the most trustworthy people in the area is the key to doing a good business in that area and I thought I found one. I indeed got a very cheap price for the materials of our invites. I never thought that the cheap price comes with a huge amount of headache. Every time I’d pick up the materials on an agreed date, it was always not available. I can’t believe I have to scare my contact person that I’d report her to the police if my materials won’t be ready the next time I pick it up before she ACTUALLY delivered. It took me quite a number of trips to Recto before I could cross this out of my list.
4. Souvenirs
I finally received the souvenirs I ordered online from Bangkok. Out of the items sent to me, I’m glad only one was broken. I was holding my breath every time I would grab one souvenir to check its state. I’ve also already bought the souvenirs for our female principal sponsors. I have yet to buy our souvenirs for the male principal sponsors. The tokens for our entourage members have also been taken care of. The only thing pending is the packaging of our souvenirs.
Surprisingly, this box arrived safely to the Philippines even without an address!
5. Barong Fabric
Last Sunday, Mang Rey arrived at our house at 6:30am to show me his barong fabrics for JayR’s barong. Since JayR will arrive only a week before our wedding, we need to find a tailor who can do barongs fast and good. Mang Rey is an answered prayer. There had been quite a number of posts about him at W@W but it was actually Ms. Minette, my couture who pushed me to give him a call. So I did. He was such a blessing to us for though he comes from Lumban, Laguna, he does home service even in Manila. Another convenient supplier for brides! Hooray! As I’ve said over and over, I don’t see much difference among different designs of Barong. Even my mother who
helped me pick the designs was overwhelmed with the many fabrics he brought.
6. AVP Projector and Screen
Dennis Sy was recommended to me by our videographer, Threelogy. We’ll have a live feedback of our guests in our reception. To save me the hassle of ensuring that our projector supplier has all the cables or equipment needed I booked them instantly. I paid the down payment thru bank transfer online while the contract was sent to and fro via fax. This was indeed a great help for someone who have all upcoming weekend full with other activities. I’m also planning to get their sound system to lessen the number of suppliers we need to coordinate. Plus the fact, that we’ll have less tummy to fill. :D
Nevertheless, all the stress that I gained from the above activities, it was all swept away by the works of no other than my love, JayR. Last week, he surprised me with a bouquet of red roses. It was really surprising. I thought I would just have a normal day that day until after a meeting, there lay on my desk the bouquet of roses. At that instant, I wanted to fly to Singapore to hug and kiss him! Though I do the leg work alone, JayR is trying his best to show his support and ease my stress. Here is one line he told me that kept me going and going. ”Don’t worry love, na mahirapan ka ngayon, after ng wedding natin I’ll make sure na hindi ka na mahihirapan”. That says it all. My sacrifice is worth every bit of it! I’m definitely marrying the perfect man for me. Love you so much love!
